What Happened to Light Yagami? {Shinigami Theory}

Now, I know this theory has been floating around on the internet for awhile, most likely since the Death Note: Relight series was aired, and if you haven't heard of/seen the Relight series, it's basically a two episode OVA with some deleted scenes or rewritten scenes that differed from what was shown in the anime. The first Relight was told from the POV of Ryuk, the Shinigami that followed Light throughout the series and, in the end, the one to kill Light Yagami, using his own Death Note.

At the beginning of the first OVA, and unnamed Shinigami is seen asking the others about Ryuk, saying he wants to talk to the Shinigami who went to the human realm. This alone suggests that he has knowledge of Ryuk, prior to meeting him. Now, one can argue that news got around about Ryuk and what he did in the human realm/the human he was with ect. But, the Shinigami Realm is shown multiple times throughout the series, and the Shinigami population seems to be small, and each of the Shinigami seem to know each other.

The new Shinigami, however, none of the others seemed to know. Soon after, it shows him proceeding his search for Ryuk, climbing a set of stairs. As he's climbing the stairs, it can be seen he's walking with a limp, which resembles the way Light was limping after being shot by Matsuda in the final episode and attempting to escape Near and the rest of the S.P.K and Task Force.

Also, the appearance of the unnamed Shinigami vaguely resembles Light's human appearance.

I agree that seeing the resemblance is a bit of a stretch, but there are a few facts that we can't ignore. The red tie worn around the head of our unnamed Shinigami is the same red tie Light wore for his college uniform. Also, the Shinigami is seen carrying a bag, which is the same exact bag that Light used for school. In some scenes, Light was made to have his eyes appear to be red and glowing, which is also portrayed in this Shinigami's appearance. Coincidence? Maybe. It also looks as though this Shinigami is wearing a button up shirt, similar to what Light wore when he died.

Then, when the unnamed Shinigami reaches the top of the stairs, he tells Ryuk that he's not asking to hear about the story for free, and bribes him with an apple. In the anime and manga, Light was the only one who ever knew that Ryuk loved apples. He then tosses this apple from the Shinigami's Realm to Ryuk, in a form very unmistakably  similar to the way Light would toss and apple to Ryuk in the original series. As Ryuk begins the story, he explains to the unnamed Shinigami that 'it's no fun watching guys complain about a dull world. It's fun watching a guy who foolishly thinks he can change the world." Obviously, he meant Light.
 The story itself is about his time with Light in the Human Realm, so that sentence means nearly nothing. However, at the end of the Relight, it shows Ryuk looking at his Death Note, opened up to the page where he'd written Light's name. He then starts to say "You were not a god. You were just..." Though he stops when he realizes the other Shinigami was gone.  This could be that, yes, he was just thinking back, but the Shinigami had left before Ryuk finished telling Light's story, suggesting that he already knew the ending.  At the very end, Ryuk finishes by saying, "Someone may pick up the note if you are lucky. And you get to see something you won't forget for the rest of your life."
As the scene pans out, Ryuk can be seen watching the Shinigami and saying, "Isn't that right....Light?"
That would make it twice that Ryuk referred to this Shinigami as Light, so it's no stretch to say that this newcomer could very well be Light. It was said that an owner of a Death Note could neither go to Heaven no Hell, that they were doomed to suffer the way a Shinigami does, so perhaps it meant they become a Shinigami? This new Shinigami also appeared to share the same boredom as Light Yagami had throughout the series.
Lastly, at the end of the second opening, there's a quick scene where it appears that Light is struggling, ending with him standing in the center of the deserted, rotting world of the Shinigami's.

So, where I completely agree with this theory, it's never been proved or even disproved, so what do you think? Was Light doomed to become a Shinigami? Perhaps he wanted to return to the human world as his Shinigami self to finish what he started? Drop a comment and let me know what you all think!
